My subtle mind

The subtle mind exercise was very similar to the loving-kindness exercise except that the subtle mind has fewer instructions. They both relaxed me but I still need to train my mind so my thoughts don’t wonder off. My main focus on this exercise was the rise of my chest when breathing in and when I felt my thoughts wondering off, I would focus again on the rising of my chest. I found this exercise very helpful to quiet my mind to the point I felt I was floating in the air. Once again, my frustration was the inability to stay focus for long periods.
Spirituality helps give our lives context, gives us a sense of purpose, connect to the world, release control and lead a healthier life.  Spirituality gives us Faith and by having Faith makes our thoughts much positive putting us in a better mental health. Faith has played a big part in my life, it has helped me to become a more positive person, I am able to accept things the way they are and I have become more forgiving.

  1. I understand, as probably the rest of the class, how difficult it is to keep one’s mind from wandering when our lives are full of objects that provide over-saturation for the mind. I found during the exercise that I was not at the point where I could loosen my grasp on the breathing. I am glad to hear the being spiritual has given your life fulfillment. I think it is very important for people to be able to forgive even if the other party holds a grudge.
