Conclusion

Going back to my personal assessment from Unit 3, I noticed that I improved all areas at a different scale. I showed the biggest improvement in my spiritual and psychological areas. I still need more work in the physical area.
I feel that I have been able to stick to my new routines and I’m hoping to reach my goals in the future. It takes a lot of hard work. By implementing a new routine where it include meditation and exercise is making me feel much better, I am able to deal with my daily stress in a much more positive manner.
Throughout this course I have been able to learn the different meditation techniques and found which one is the best for me. It has been rough to quiet my mind but with daily practices I will master it. This course has made me experience short periods of quietness I always wanted to have and with practice I will be able to have extended times.

Commitment

Introduction

It is very important for health and wellness professionals to develop the psychological, spiritual and physical areas because it can help patients reach their goals in good health. The professionals need to become experienced in these areas in order to help the patients’ growth. The professionals can help patients in many ways, using all the three areas or just one or two. They need to become mentors to patients.
I still need to develop all areas in order to reach my goals but the main one is my spiritual and my physical areas. I need to stick to my routine on praying and to good nutrition.

Assessment

According to my assessment in all 3 areas, I need the most improvement in the spiritual and physical areas. When I stress, I tend to not stick to my regular routines. I also need improvement in the psychological area but not as the other two.

Goals

I would like to reach my goal in spiritual area so I can have a much positive demeanor. I think when I reach my spiritual goal; my life will have a drastic change for the positive.
Reaching my physical goal, not only can give me a positive appearance but also it will certainly increase my self-esteem.
Reaching my psychological goals can improve my mood and it will help me relief stress. Being able to balance these three areas will lead me to the right path on integral health.

Practices

To achieve my spiritual goal, I will have more Faith by praying more and reading the Bible everyday. I need to have a stronger connection with Christ.
To achieve my physical goal, I need to stick to a healthier diet regarding of the stress level. I do okay with my exercise routine but just need to work on my food choices in the evenings.
To achieve my psychological goal, I need to incorporate more meditation time in my daily routine so it can alleviate my stress. I want to get to the point that I am able to deal with difficult situations and not stress about it.

Commitment

As of today I am making a commitment of following a healthier lifestyle. I will work on all my goals and if I get off track, I promise to get back on it. I believe that journalizing my daily routines can give me a sensation of my improvements in all areas until reaching my goals of a balanced life.

Getting mentally fit

Two practices that I get more benefits from are subtle mind and meditation. I can start by implementing these 2 practices in my daily routine in order to deal with stress. I find that meditation is the hardest for me to practice but I am sure I will get better. I have been practicing meditation before going to sleep and I’m beginning to tell the difference in quality of sleep. Practicing the exercise of subtle mind in the mornings helps me relax and deal better with stress during the day.

Mentor

Practicing meditation on a daily basis for about 10 minutes a day has help me increase my positive disposition and it has helped me to deal with the anxiety attacks. Combining the meditation with the exercise routine has made a huge improvement in my life; not just physically but also mental and it has strengthen my Faith. During the mediation for Unit 7, I visualized the face of Jesus and it gave me such a peaceful sensation that it scared me for a moment. I felt that my body was floating in the air.
‘One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself’. In other words, having the map does not mean that you have visited the territory. In order for you to teach someone, you must have experienced your teaching. My Dad use to tell me that I could not preach what I did not practice and I believe this is so real. An example is when I am teaching my kids to have discipline; I must show them that I have the discipline.

My Progress

Practicing the universal Loving Kindness meditation exercise, gave me a great feeling of how capable I can be of helping others especially the ill. After practicing this meditation, I called my ex-mother in law and offered to help because I know she is very sick. I cannot help everyone that is sick but I can certainly do little things for the ill that can put a smile on their faces. After speaking with my ex-mother in law I stopped by with a bowl of soup and sat with her for a couple of hours; I know this made her feel good just to have someone talk to her.
After completing the Integral Assessment, I discovered that out of the 4 quadrants, I need to work more in the psychospiritual. As of now, I am still working towards getting a witnessing mind. I have been having a hard tome quieting my mind. My goal is to reach the level of unity consciousness. I believe this is the most important quadrant, once I reach my goal, the development on the rest of the quadrants will improve. The way to reach my goal is by practicing meditation, no matter how difficult is it I need to keep trying.
